In the spring of 1975 a small group of people met in the Portman Hall, Shillingstone with the idea of starting a riding club, to hold different types of event, both fun and competitive.

25 years late the club continues to run a variety of events all with the aim to further our horsemanship and to share our love and appreciation of horses. Some of our members complete at affiliated competitions, while others are just starting out,  all are able to gain skills, knowledge and experience at our range of club events. Instruction is held in flatwork, show jumping and cross country.  We also organise unmounted equine events and club rides taking advantage of the beautiful Dorset countryside.

The Shillingstone and District Riding Club (SDRC) continues to develop.  An enduring love of horses is evident in the commitment of past and new members.  The present committee is relatively new so we have lots of enthusiasm and new ideas,  we are fortunate to still have the support and expertise of former committee members.
